I love creating my own teas at home, and this time I hit it home with this combination! Ok, truth be told, I read this was a yummy combination in a magazine – so I just had to give it a try!
Matcha is a pure form of green tea that is high in antioxidants, catechins and has disease-fighting properties. Lavender is an potent herb that is constantly sought out for its soothing fragrance. However, consuming the dried leaves internally are also beneficial. Lavender reduces inflammation in the body, offers digestive support and boosts immune health.
To make this tea, I used a tbsp of dried lavender leaves which I purchased at a farmer’s market. After boiling the leaves for about 10 minutes, I poured the water into a cup that contained one tsp of Jade Leaf Matcha. There are a lot of matcha brands out there, so do your research. Jade Leaf Matcha just happens to be my favorite! Please note that it’s always best to steep tea for five or six minutes before drinking so all of the flavors develop fully.
If you suffer from difficulty sleeping, having lavender tea (without anything else added) in the evening will calm your system and your senses.
